The QISD Education Foundation has set board meetings each month for the 4th Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in room 207 of the QISD Education Center. Special meetings are scheduled around events and holidays.
Dr. William (Bill) Claxton has been a part of the Quinlan and Lake Tawakoni area since the early 1980’s. He has owned and operated Quinlan Animal Clinic since 1982. Dr. Claxton has been a strong school and community supporter through the years serving as a board member of the local chamber of commerce on several occasions. He was an initial founder of the Quinlan ISD Education Foundation in 2005 and has served as president for the past three years.

Since that time, we have given over $80,000 to fund over 60 grants to help meet the needs of our teachers in the classrooms. Stephanie Reeves is an initial board member of the Education Foundation. She has an extensive background in Volunteering and Fundraising for the past 20 years in various organizations. She has been an avid school supporter serving QISD on its PTO Boards of the campuses serving her children. She has been a nurse for 16 years and is currently the campus nurse at JMECC. Stephanie has served as the treasurer of the Foundation since its inception.

Kym French serves as Vice President of Public Relations for the QISD Education Foundation. She has served in this capacity for two years. Kym has an extensive marketing background from working in her church to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Kym is very involved in the school and community, also serving the Lake Tawakoni Regional Chamber of Commerce as Office Administrator.

Melanie Kuykendall moved to Quinlan ISD in 2006 and quickly became involved in her community. She has 2 sons that attend QISD schools, one in middle school and one in high school. She is President of her HOA and she immediately joined the board of the QISD Education Foundation and has served as Vice President of Administration since she came to the organization. Recently, she accepted the role of Vice President of Development and Fundraising and will continue both positions temporarily until the VP of Administration is filled. Melanie has worked in the Insurance field for 19 years as a manager and licensed agent who has compiled numerous credited hours of ethics and risk training. She is pursuing the FLMI (LOMA) designation.

Dale Chreene was raised in Quinlan schools and is a Quinlan-Ford High School graduate. He married his high school sweetheart and they raised their two children in QISD. He has worked at L–3 Communications in Greenville for the past 28 years. Dale has served as the Quinlan Sports Association commissioner on several occasions as well as on the board of the Quinlan Sports Association for many years. He became the football coach and mentor to many young athletes. Chreene is also a strong school supporter and has served as the Vice President of Programs for one year.

Sharon Royal graduated from Quinlan High School in 1977. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Texas A & M at Commerce. She is Director of Quality for L–3 Mission Integration, a leader in development of complex intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communications systems for airborne platforms. Sharon served on the Quinlan City Council as a member from 1995 to 2003 and as Mayor from 2003 to 2009. She was a founding member and served on the Board of Directors of the Quinlan Economic Development Corporation from 1996 to 2009. Sharon was a founding officer and donor of the QISD Education Foundation in 2005 and continues to serve as Secretary. Sharon and her husband Donald reside in the Union Valley community and have three grown children.

Barbara Norris is an initial board member of the QISD Education Foundation. She later became Vice President of Programs, still serving on that committee. Barbara is a 20+ year retired Quinlan school educator who brings a tremendous knowledge to her position. Barbara also serves on the Quinlan ISD Museum committee and is very active in her church.

Barbara Denuyl is the most recent member to join the board of the Education Foundation. Barbara has been the Sales and Service Manager for the American National Bank of Texas in Quinlan since 2005, where they partner with A.E. Butler through Partners in Education. Barbara is the current President of the Hunt County CPS Board and a board member for the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and City of Greenville’s Tourism Board. Finally, she is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greenville, Hunt County Alliance for Economic Development and a past participant of the Hunt County Leadership program. She attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Tx and received her BBA in Marketing and MBA with a concentration in Finance in 1995. Barbara Denuyl strongly supports Quinlan schools and through her direct involvement, has made a significant impact in sustaining good community relations.

Cathy Whitley was an initial member of the Education Foundation. She has served as the Vice President of Public Relations for the first four years. Cathy has been a strong supporter of Quinlan schools, raising both of her children through the system. She was the President of the PTO at each of her children’s campuses. Cathy Whitley is an avid school supporter in every area – academic, athletic and the fine arts. Recently, Cathy was voted to serve in an ex-officio board member.

I believe in bettering everything we can in our school and the Foundation is one of the best tools to be able to do that."
Tiffony Upchurch has been the Quinlan ISD School Community Relations Director for 11 years. She attended elementary and middle school in the Quinlan school system. She received her BS in Education from East Texas State University and began her career in education as a Kindergarten teacher at Joe Martin Early Childhood Center. After teaching one year, Tiffony pursued a career in real estate with her family where she grew her passion for promoting Quinlan ISD in every capacity to newcomers in the area. In December of 1999, Tiffony was offered the position of QISD Director of Public Information, later becoming Director of School Community Relations. In 2004, Tiffony made a proposal to QISD Administration and later the QISD Board of Trustees about implementing an Education Foundation. With strong community ties, a steering committee was formed. Within one year, the Foundation became a non-profit 501 c3 organization and formed a board, policies, procedures, goals and much more. Today, the Foundation has awarded the district a total of $85,000 and is a great example of providing a solid support system and practicing 'Best Practices' in monies raised.
